Its 1.32 mm thickness offers excellent flexibility, making it ideal for fine detailing where a lighter material is preferred without sacrificing long-term weather protection.

Applications & Suitability

Code 3 lead is best suited to non-exposed or supported flashing work where a lighter, more flexible sheet is appropriate. It is commonly used in:

• Soakers installed beneath slate or tile coverings
• Step flashings and abutment details around chimneys and walls
• Repair work in conservation areas and period properties
• Lean-to roofs, small canopies and light-duty vertical transitions

Important: Because of its lighter gauge, Code 3 lead should always be fully supported in horizontal applications to avoid distortion or sagging. For exposed areas, foot traffic or wider spans, upgrade to Code 4 or Code 5.

Installation Advice

• Fixings: Use copper or stainless steel fixings to prevent galvanic corrosion and ensure long-term durability.
• Patination oil: Apply immediately after installation to minimise white staining and maintain surface appearance.
• Lap guidance: Provide adequate laps and allowances for thermal expansion in accordance with BS 6915.
• Ventilation: Maintain airflow behind the sheet to reduce condensation and prevent underside corrosion.
