Spanish Lousaval roof slates 

Available in 600mm x 300mm (24" x 12") 500mm x 250mm (20" x 10" or 400mm x 250mm (16" x 10"). Spanoish Lousaval slates offer a superb alternative to Welsh and reclaimed options at a fraction of the cost. Choosing Lousaval slates offers uniformity of finish when properly sorted, graded, and installed in accordance with best practice and BS5534:2014+A2.

LV 11 or LV15? 

Both varieties represent high quality Spanish roof slates which have a low pyrite content and are ideal for a range of applications. LV11 Lousaval slates are 5mm thick and are moned out of La Fraguina. LV15 Lousaval slates are is more textured and 7mm thick. Both Lousaval optios are compliant with BS EN 12326-1:2004 and are backed by a 50 year quarry guarantee. 🇪🇸

Spanish Lousaval LV15 Blue/Grey

Spanish Lousaval LV15 Blue/Grey are available in the following sizes:

  • 600mm x 300mm (24″ x 12″)
  • 500mm x 250mm (20″ x 10″)
  • 400mm x 250mm (16″ x 10″)

Produced from the Valdemiguel open pit quarry. The Lousaval LV15 are 7mm thick and offer a riven texture, less uniform in appearance than the LV11 but a worthy contender when it comes to choosing a Spanish roof slate.

Physical Characteristics of Spanish Lousaval LV15

  • Color and Texture: Lousaval LV15 slates typically exhibit a deep, uniform color, often a dark grey or black, with a fine-grained texture. The consistency in color and texture makes them aesthetically pleasing and suitable for a variety of architectural styles.
  • Thickness and Dimensions: These slates are available in various thicknesses, commonly ranging from 4 to 9 mm. Standard dimensions include 500×250 mm, but custom sizes can be produced to meet specific project requirements.

Durability and Performance:

  • Weather Resistance: Lousaval LV15 slates are highly resistant to weathering, including freeze-thaw cycles, making them ideal for use in harsh climates.
  • Longevity: They have a long lifespan, often exceeding 100 years with proper installation and maintenance. Howwever, the quarry guarantee extends to 50 years.
  • Fire Resistance: Being a natural stone, these slates are non-combustible and provide excellent fire resistance. This is becoming an increasingly important part of building design and construction processes.
