Always choose fixings to suit the wall type. Masonry usually requires plugs and screws, plasterboard may need cavity anchors, and wet areas benefit from more corrosion-resistant fixings.

Where possible, fix into studs. If that is not possible, use suitable high-load cavity anchors. For multiple hooks, a timber rail fixed securely to the wall can help distribute the load more effectively.

Mark out a level line first, use a consistent spacing pattern and pre-drill pilot holes where needed. A simple paper or timber template can make repeating the layout easier.

Wipe with a soft cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners. Antique finishes may benefit from occasional waxing, while plated and powder-coated hooks usually need very little maintenance.
