Product Info

Proctor Air® Roof Felt – Vapour-Permeable Roofing Underlay

Proctor Air® roof felt is an air- and vapour-permeable, highly water-resistant roofing underlay for pitched roofs. Its permeability allows complex roof geometries to breathe without secondary ventilation or air gaps, supporting both warm and cold roof build-ups when installed to the manufacturer’s guidance.

  • Vapour permeable – reduces interstitial condensation risk
  • Fully air permeable – promotes uniform airflow across the roofscape
  • Highly water resistant – sheds wind-driven rain under the primary covering
  • More uniform airflow than discrete vents
  • Wind uplift resistance suitable for UK exposures (see data sheet)
  • BS5534:2014+A2:2018 underlay compliance (learn more)
  • No internal VCL typically required in many pitched applications*
  • 15-year warranty

*Always confirm build-up, climate zone and occupancy. Follow the latest A. Proctor guidance and your designer’s specification.

Proctor Air® – Frequently Asked Questions

Do I still need roof ventilation with Proctor Air®?

In many pitched applications, secondary ventilation is not required because the membrane is both air- and vapour-permeable. Always verify your specific build-up and exposure conditions.

Is a vapour control layer (VCL) required?

Typically no internal VCL is required where Proctor Air® is used correctly, but designers should confirm for the occupancy type and insulation strategy.

Is it compliant with BS5534?

Yes — Proctor Air® is specified for use as a BS5534 roofing underlay. Refer to the data sheet for wind uplift and fixing guidance.
