Traditional pantiles, often referred to as ‘cow shed tiles’.
Great for undertaking repairs to exit gin buildings or for restoration projects.
Cow shed tiles are always in stock.
Sizes and styles may vary, samples available upon request to ensure that they meet your requirements.

Description

We have a large stock of reclaimed “cow shed” pantiles. They can be perfect for a rustic looking roofing project or for garages, carports and outbuildings.

Traditionally, such clay pantiles would have been bedded onto a lime slurry backed with oak laths. Further, the tiles would also be hung on traditional battens but not nailed.

Samples are available, please request one and we will provide a cost to send it to your location before ordering.

For repair projects please bring one of your tiles with you to be able to perfectly match it.

Also known as Barn Tiles this style of tile is not made currently. The tiles are handmade and unlikely to have nail holes.

Available for collection or for delivery on pallets.

Definition: Number of slates needed to cover one square metre.

Formula: 1 000 000 mm² ÷ (effective width × effective height)

Where:

Effective width = tile width – side lap
Effective height = tile height – head lap

Example: 610 mm × 355 mm tile, 20 mm side lap, 75 mm head lap:

Effective width: 610 − 20 = 590 mm
Effective height: 355 − 75 = 280 mm
Area per slate: 590 × 280 = 165 200 mm²
