This reclaimed snooker table slate slab measures approximately 1860mm long, 730mm wide and
45mm thick. Originally manufactured to provide an exceptionally flat, stable playing surface, snooker slate is prized for its
density and durability — which is exactly why it’s also brilliant when repurposed as a thick slate hearth slab,
reclaimed slate worktop or bench top.
Buying from The Reclaimed Company means you’re getting a
genuine, high-grade reclaimed slate with real character — a sustainable material with a second life in your home, garden or project.
Best Uses for a Thick Reclaimed Slate Slab
- Slate hearth for a wood burning stove or fireplace (cut to size, refine edges)
- Worktops / counters for kitchens, bars or utility rooms (honed + sealed)
- Workshop bench tops where a flat, heavy, stable surface is ideal
- Table tops and statement surfaces for interiors
- Outdoor prep counters, BBQ areas and garden features
Origin & Past Use — A Reclaimed Piece of Snooker History
Our reclaimed snooker table slates were originally crafted for high-end tables used in clubs, venues and private homes.
They were selected for their precision and stability, then reclaimed when tables were retired or replaced —
preserving the unique imprint of years of use. Each slate is therefore one-of-a-kind with authentic character.
What You May See on the Slate (Normal for Snooker Slates)
- Joint holes (used to align multi-slab table beds)
- Corner cut-outs (from original pocket positions)
- Historic surface marks (often refinishable by honing/polishing)
Cutting, Finishing & Practical Notes
Snooker table slate can be cut and refined by a competent stone worker using appropriate tooling. Depending on your desired look, it can be finished as:
natural, honed or polished. If you’re planning a hearth or worktop, we recommend allowing for trimming
to remove any cut-outs and achieve a clean finished rectangle.
Handling: this is a heavy slab. Please ensure safe manual handling, suitable access for delivery/collection, and adequate support at the final location.
Slate Hearth Guidance (Sizing & Compliance)
If you’re using this as a slate hearth slab for a wood burning stove, please confirm your hearth size and installation requirements with your installer.
Requirements vary depending on appliance type and installation details, but in most cases you’ll need adequate non-combustible coverage around the stove,
a stable base, and appropriate clearances.
Send us: your stove make/model (or output), your preferred finished hearth size (L × W), and whether you want a natural, honed or polished finish —
and we’ll help you choose and plan cut allowances.
