Summary of Welsh roofing slates

In summary, the following information will be important.

There are three main producers in Wales. 

1. Penrhyn ®.
2. Cwt-y-Bugail.
3. Ffestiniog.

All of the slates produced have differences that will offer a different project aesthetic.

There are three grades available. 

1. Capital, the thinnest production grade at 5.5mm (approx)
2. County, slightly thicker at circa 7.0mm.
3. Celtic, a bit more rustic  at circa 9mm thick.

The colours are all a little different: 

1. Penrhyn provides a heather purple tone.
2. Cwt-y-Bugail is grey/ blue, with heavily rivened edges.
3. Ffestiniog is fine grains, grey/ blue an offered a very uniform appearance.
