Reclaimed Stone Ridge

Reclaimed Stone Ridge tiles have been sourced from a home in Northumberland.

They are natural stone and also well weathered with great ageing.

These stone ridge are fairly uniform but are various lengths. The Longest piece is 85cm.

Sold and priced per liner meter.

Stone Ridge Uses

The perfect accompaniment to an array of roofing tiles from reclaimed slates, to second haned pantiles.

Our stocks of reclaimed stone ridge tiles is constantly changing.

These ridge would work well as coping stones.

Traditional Stone Ridges

Ridges traditionally made from stone, also sawn or chiselled from a block. Always reuse stone ridges, if sound. It is possible to obtain new ridges from masonry quarries but reclaimed ridges are a better eco friendly choice. Ridges are dressed and also tooled with local traditional varieties.

Stone Ridge Mortar

Ridges are back-bedded in mortar so that, as far as the undulations in the slating permit, the motor does not show at the long edges. They are slo haunched at the butt joints.

Calculating Slates per m²

Definition: Number of slates needed to cover one square metre.

Formula: 1 000 000 mm² ÷ (effective width × effective height)

Where:

Effective width = tile width – side lap
Effective height = tile height – head lap

Example: 610 mm × 355 mm tile, 20 mm side lap, 75 mm head lap:

Effective width: 610 − 20 = 590 mm
Effective height: 355 − 75 = 280 mm
Area per slate: 590 × 280 = 165 200 mm²
Slates per m²: 1 000 000 ÷ 165 200 ≈ 6.05
