Courtrai Style French Tiles<\/h2>\n

Courtrai style French tiles, a classic, Roman clay tile with a small format, large flat pan and delicate slightly cambered single roll. The tile is identified by the two upside-down semi-circular ‘lugs’ on the front face.<\/p>\n

This tile is economical and also versatile.<\/p>\n

The double interlocking design makes it suitable for pitches down to 22\u00b0.<\/p>\n

Manufacturers<\/h2>\n

The Courtrai style tile is made by a several manufacturers. The tile is often referred to as a “Monopole”. The Monopole (Tuileries du Nord) is a common manufacturer and these tiles were traditionally made at the\u00a0Wardrecques factory in northern France.\u00a0Other manufacturers include: Beauprez & Gruyelles, Dalle & Wervico, Marcke les Courtrai,\u00a0Pottelberg, Sterreberg, Sandtoft and also Watten.<\/p>\n

Courtrai Style French Tiles Origins<\/h2>\n

The original ‘Courtrai tile’ – manufactured since 1906. The Courtrai tile is originally manufactured in Belgium it has also been produced in France, Holland and the UK. Not only is this a popular tile in Europe but it has been used across the east of England for over 60 years.<\/p>\n

Sustainability<\/h2>\n

Clay tiles are also a sustainable product. The longevity of clay means that not only the energy but the raw materials used in their production are offset over the whole life of the roof. Also most clay tile roofs survive over 100 years.<\/p>\n
